Get to Know Reading Revival

Learning Is a Journey

Reading Revival was launched with the mission to inspire educators, families, and communities to reflect on and reimagine their role in advancing literacy for all students. My hope is that this space becomes more than a blog; I want it to feel like a gathering place—much like the revivals I grew up attending in the Southern Bible Belt. Those revivals were designed to renew passion, spark energy, and bring people together. That same spirit guides this work, only here the focus is literacy.

Here, you’ll find research, reflections, and practical strategies designed to strengthen teacher quality, elevate teacher preparation, and, ultimately, improve student success. Reading Revival is grounded both in evidence-based practice and in my own experiences as a seasoned elementary teacher, former literacy teacher educator, and now literacy advocate and consultant. Having seen the challenges across classrooms, preparation programs, and school systems, I believe lasting change begins with equipping and supporting educators at every stage of their journey.

My hope is that Reading Revival becomes a trusted space for you: a place to learn, connect, and grow alongside other literacy leaders. Together, our shared passion can advance equitable literacy preparation and instruction. Let’s collaborate to elevate student outcomes and keep the spirit of renewal alive in literacy education.
